Why we should not fear artificial intelligence (AI)

Reflection on the impact of AI on the individual and society and a way to approach AI constructively. Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a paradigm for the evolution of human society, with the “democratization” of already well-known applications such as ChatGPT, but also Midjourney, 10web, Tome, Bardeen and many others. In addition to the existing ones, even while we are reading these lines, other applications are being created that address the multitude of niches created by globalization and the modern economy under the impact of informational and technological progress. Even as we read these lines, existing applications are being refined to better serve the purpose for which they were created or to expand their capabilities. Artificial intelligence has made a major impact on the way phenomena and problems are understood and interpreted within multiple fields, for this reason a series of more or less well-founded fears about the individual’s immediate future, such as the fate of jobs and occupations that would already be threatened by intensive automation under the impact of AI, or on a much larger scale, about fears about the future of humanity under the impact of AI. Will we be able to assimilate the AI or will it assimilate us? AI exists and influences our lives before the applications that incorporate it mentioned above. We use relatively simple applications that become more and more intuitive, that achieve translations of amazing quality and that apparently meet our needs, many created even by the popularization of certain products, services and trends in the evolution of individual consumption. Social media platforms have transformed themselves from a means of staying in touch with a group of acquaintances to veritable forums and virtual public spaces where people unknown to each other interact in ways that were hard to imagine 10 or 20 years ago. We travel guided by platforms that already know our schedule and travel habits, we receive information from extremely diverse fields that are already suitable for our profile. All of this already proves that AI was somewhere out there without us knowing, and somehow we developed together and also together managed to influence each other, based on commercial success guided by the ever more complete and complex satisfaction of individual needs. The emerging answer to who will assimilate whom is that we will evolve together. This more or less conscious coexistence between man and AI is already a shared journey and experience. Our life is already no longer the same as it was 5, or 10, or 20 years ago due to technological and informational progress, patronized by technology in the form of advanced AI-assimilated models. Day by day, without realizing it, our life is no longer as we used to know it, and it will move further and further away from what it was. The conclusion will be the same: humanity has entered a new phase of evolution under the impact of AI. We are already at the beginning of a new era in the development of mankind, a time that can be likened to the discovery of fire and all subsequent inventions and discoveries.
